From one of the finest producers in the Setúbal Peninsula, Horácio Simões, this is a sweet fortified wine from the 1996 vintage made specifically from Moscatel Roxo, which is a particular clone of Muscat that is unique to Portugal. Writing for The Wine Advocate in 2016, Mark Squires described this wine as showing “beautiful tension, wonderful freshness and acidity, intense aromatics and controlled flavours.” He awarded it 94 points and a drinking window up to 2040. It was bottled in 2004 with 177g/L of residual sugar.
