Les Tourelles de Longueville 2009 is a full-bodied, Merlot-based red wine from the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux. The second wine of the esteemed Pauillac Second Growth, Château Pichon Baron, Les Tourelles de Longueville is named after the turrets that embellish the château. The grapes for the wine come mainly from the Sainte Anne plot, the majority being Merlot, giving the wine its distinctive personality. The 2009 is made from 61% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc. "The second wine of Pichon Baron, the Les Tourelles de Longueville, is the best second effort I have tasted from this estate. An equal part blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is very seductive, with loads of black fruits, an almost caramelized note, low acidity and voluptuous texture. Endearing and pure, this full-bodied second wine is better than many vintages of the grand vin from the 1940s and 1950s." Wine Advocate, 2011
