Cù Bòcan Creation V was distilled in December 2011 and first aged in refill American oak hogsheads. In June 2021, it was transferred into Andean Oak casks. A little over a year later, the whisky was extracted from these casks. The combination of Andean Oak`s distinctive characteristics and subtle smokiness has given rise to flavours of lightly charred oak with profound undertones of exotic floral herbs and a reminiscent note of campfire banana splits. A must-try.

Tomatin

Tomatin

Founded in 1987, Tomatin grew to be one of Scotland's largest distilleries, producing huge amounts of single malt whisky for blenders. Expansion between the 1950s and 1970s increased the number of stills from two to 23, allowing the distillery to product 12 millions litres a year. An economic downturn in the 1980s led to 11 of these stills being dismantled and the distillery's capacity was reduced significantly. In modern times, Tomatin has reinvented itself as a premium Highland malt with fresh branding and a focus on quality and innovation.

Tomatin's entry level singe malt is 'Legacy', a spicy dram aged in a combination of ex-Bourbon casks and virgin oak barrels. Beyond that, a series of age statement drams and limited edition casks finishes including  whiskies finished in Cognac, Fino Sherry and Rivesaltes barrels. Independent  bottlings of single casks are relatively common and worth seeking out.
