Château Mercian Iwasaki Koshu is an aromatic, barrel-fermented and -aged Japanese white wine produced from the indigenous Koshu grape variety. A versatile, `gris` grape variety known for producing delicate, aromatic wines, Koshu was first identified in Yamanashi Province as long ago as 1186. Founded in 1870, Château Mercian is the oldest winery in Japan and one of the leading producers of Koshu in the country. The 2020 Iwakasi Koshu presents a nose of citrus blossom, vanilla and almonds, while the concentrated palate marries notes of fresh orchard fruits and citrus oil with a refreshing acidity.
