In 1969, Aldo Conterno broke away from the family business to establish his own winery in Bussia, Monforte d’Alba. Aldo’s three sons Stefano, Franco and Giacomo now run the winery and continue to produce some of the region’s finest wines from their 25-hectares of prime vineyards. 2016 was an excellent vintage in Piedmont and Conterno has produced a stunning range of single cru Barolo. From the revered Colonnello vineyard, this is a dark, intense and quietly powerful release that will need a good portion of time in the cellar before it is approachable.
