Founded in 1918, the 5-hectare estate of Bartolo Mascarello has an illustrious history in Piedmont and is one of the most revered producers in the region. As is typical for the regional style of the past, the winery produces just one Barolo as an assemblage of their four estate vineyards in Cannubi, Rué, San Lorenzo and Rocche dell’Annunziata. Winemaking remains incredibly traditional, with lengthy maceration, slow fermentation and extended maturation in large oak ‘botti’. 1985 was a superb vintage with many rich and perfumed wines renowned for their longevity.
