Chartreuse Anisette Tarragona is a rare bottling of Chartreuse from Chartreuse`s now-defunct Tarragona distillery. Originally created in 1605 by French Carthusian monks as an elixir of long life, Chartreuse produced in Tarragona, Spain, between 1904-1989 after the monks were exiled from France. In 1989 the distillery in Tarragona closed down and production of Chartreuse returned to France. Today, bottles produced in Tarragona are among the most sought-after in the world.
