Le Grand Clos is the top cuvée from Château de Villeneuve which is run by the talented Jean-Pierre Chevallier and produces organic, minimal intervention wines from Saumur-Champigny in the Loire Valley. The 2016 is an exceptional release with rich black fruits, subtle savoury nuances and wonderfully lush texture. Perfectly balanced with subtle tannic framework and bursts of fresh acidity, this is a supple and vibrant wine that is excellent for immediate consumption but has enough complexity and structure to age very well.
