Ravenswood Winery began in 1976 with pioneering winemaker Joel Peterson at the helm and has forged a reputation as one of the finest producers of Zinfandel in California. The Dickerson Vineyard has sections of it dating back to the 1930s and has always been well-known for producing very distinctive fruit. Indeed, Robert Parker once described it as the “Heitz Martha’s Vineyard of Zinfandel” not least for its fruit quality but also for the similarly distinctive minty/eucalyptus note expressed in the wine.
