Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin Beaucastel Magnum 2017

Château de Beaucastel is one of the oldest and finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. 1989 saw the debut release of the flagship wine, Hommage a Jacques Perrin, which is only made in the best years and has production of around 350 cases on average. The 2017 is blend based on an unusually high proportion of Mourvedre, which was of exceptional quality due the extra heat of the vintage. This is incredibly full-bodied and rich, with superlative tannin structure and immense concentration of fruit. Undoubtedly this will evolve into something even more extraordinary, though it is a little early to contemplate drinking just yet.
