Domaine Ramonet is unquestionably one of the finest producers in the Côte de Beaune and, under the watchful eye of Noël and Jean-Claude Ramonet, has had a remarkable run of form over recent vintages. From Bourgogne up to Grand Cru the quality of wine produced is equalled by few others.
Premier Cru ‘Morgeot’ is situated nearer the southern end of Chassagne-Montrachet and the Ramonet’s vines were planted back in 1972. Though 1995 was a low-yielding vintage, it was generally considered to be of very good quality, producing whites with excellent fruit ripeness and vibrant acidity. Allen Meadows of Burghound described this wine as having “lovely, complex, forward fruit with densely concentrated yet detailed flavours and fine acid/fruit balance.”
