The Russian tsar’s love of sweet wines in general and Yquem in particular is well documented and bottles from 1865 were found in the famous Massandra cellars of the last tsar, Nicholas II. The wine is in superb condition and analysis has shown an alcohol of 10.5%, and 153g residual sugar, which is still extremely sweet even by modern standards.
