Domaine Vigneau-Chevreau is a family owned and operated winery founded in 1875 that specialises in the Chenin Blanc based wines from the Vouvray appellation in the Loire Valley. They have been organic certified since 1990 and have also employed biodynamic principles since 1995 to produce four categories of Vouvray. sparkling, sec, demi-sec and moelleux.
Cuvée Silex comes from 30-to-40-year-old vineyards with clay-siliceous soils and a high proportion of flint (silex) on the surface. Medium-bodied and satin-textured, it is awash with delicious white orchard fruits, spices, honey and has a thread of cooling minerality throughout. Though excellent to drink young this will age nicely, developing further complex flavours and gaining additional weight.
