First appearing in the 1988 vintage, Le Petit Cheval is the second wine of illustrious Saint-Émilion estate, Château Cheval Blanc. On average, 4,000 cases of Le Petit Cheval are made each vintage and it is produced mostly from declassified wine from the Grand Vin that is blended with other selected parcels. From a seriously underrated vintage, the 2006 is less rich and powerful than its bigger brother but is a wine of wonderful aromatic complexity and finesse. It is perfect for drinking now and should hit full maturity in the next 2-3 years.
