Hermitage Faurie 2013

The Faurie family has owned vines in Hermitage since 1935 and Bernard is the fourth generation of his family to run the estate. With just 1.7 hectares of vines, he has holdings in the prestigious lieux-dits of Les Bessards, Greffieux and Le Méal, and produces three red and one white Hermitage. This is 100% Syrah from Les Bessards and Le Méal from the 2013 vintage. It unwinds in the glass to reveal gorgeous deep black fruit, liquorice, spice and pencil shaving aromas. Rich and firmly structured, but delightfully elegant, there is a wonderful sense of precision and energy to this wine, suggesting that further cellaring is entirely possible.
