The Henschke family have been making wine at their estate in the Eden Valley since 1868. Fifth-generation winemaker Stephen Henschke took over running the winery in 1979. 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot, this cool, elegant wine was named as a tribute to Cyril Henschke after he passed away in 1976. One of Australia’s outstanding winemaking pioneers, renowned for the production of varietal table wines driven by quality and flavour. Cyril Henschke planted Cabernet Sauvignon at Eden Valley in the 1960s. Very deep crimson in colour. Exhibiting sweet, lifted, spicy aromas of cassis, anise and violets; complex with hints of cedar and tar. The palate is lush, fleshy and layered with sweet fruit; concentrated and complex with good length.
