Founded in 1639 in the village of Riquewihr, the Hugel family winery is one of the most prestigious in the Alsace region. Grossi Laüe signifies the finest vineyards in Alsace dialect and represents an equivalent to German Grosses Gewächs or the Burgundian Grand Cru. The Gewurztraminer is produced from a selection of the oldest plots of the Hugel estate in the heart of the Grand Cru Sporen vineyard
The 2011 is harmonious and refined, with classically bold aromas of lychee, pineapple, jasmine, peony and honey. Generous and juicy on the palate, it has excellent acidity and a long, spice-laden finish. This is now at the perfect age for drinking and would pair beautifully with a lightly spiced monkfish curry.
