Based in Beaune, Louis Jadot is one Burgundy`s largest producers, making over 220 different wines. The maison was originally founded in 1859 by Louis Henri Denis Jadot, 30 years after the family had bought its very first vineyard, the Clos des Ursules. This particular release comes from the premier cru Clos Saint-Jacques, which may have deserved the grand cru status when the first official classification was decided. The 1999 vintage was a generous one, with a warm summer and good harvest conditions in September leading to excellent wines.
