The wine-growing history of Maison Trimbach dates back to 1626 and it is undoubtedly one of the most respected producers in the Alsace region. Cuvée Frédéric Émile was created in the 1960s as a signature dry wine and is produced using fruit from the two Grand Cru vineyards of Geisberg and Ostertag. The 2011 is in a wonderful spot for drinking right now, exhibiting rich citrus and tropical fruits, with subtle hints of petroleum, honey and crushed chalk. Silky textured and juicy, yet underpinned by pinpoint acidity and cooling minerality, this is classic dry Alsatian Riesling done supremely well.
