Daniel Bouland makes some of the most old-school and expressive wines in the whole of the Beaujolais region. His 2021 Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Melanie hails from 70-year-old vines on the southern slope of Mont Brouilly and it is aged in old oak foudres. With a stunning plum colour, the wine has rich spicy fruit with a marked stony flavour on the finish. As with all Bouland’s releases, this is a wine born from low yields and natural, whole-bunch fermentation.
