Condrieu de Jacques Vernay Stephane Ogier 2015
Prior to 1987, Domaine Michel Ogier sold the entirety of its harvest to negociants and it was not really until Stéphane Ogier joined the family business in 1997 that their status really began to take off. With a complete renovation of the cellars in the early 2000s and the introduction of several new cuvées, they are now considered amongst the finest producers in the region. Condrieu de Jacques Vernay is produced from 100% Viognier from the old-vine lieu-dit of La Combe and in 2015 is absolutely sublime. Rich, full-bodied and heady, it offers up wonderful notes of tangerine, stone fruits, honey and citrus blossom. This is in its prime drinking window but should continue to evolve over the next 2-3 years.
