Bodegas Roda is one of the newest wineries in Rioja and very much represents the modern side of the region, favouring short maturation times versus more traditional extended barrel ageing. Cirsion was first released in 1998 and is a vineyard and barrel selection of 100% Tempranillo aged for 8 months in French oak and a further 4 months in bottle prior to release. From the incredibly hot 2003 vintage, this a is powerful and rich wine, saturated with deep black fruits and savoury notes of liquorice, roasted coffee beans and leather. Decanting is advised.
