Owned and operated by the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy, Domaine d’Auvenay sits at the very highest echelon of white Burgundy production, with wines that are almost unparalleled in their rarity, extraordinary quality and remarkable longevity. The Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru is perhaps the jewel in the domaine’s crown and is produced from a tiny 0.16ha plot acquired in 1992 from Jean Chartron. The average age of the vines is 40 years old and annual production is usually less than 500 bottles.
Writing for The Wine Advocate in 2013, Neal Martin awarded the 2011 96 points, remarking that “the palate demonstrates great clarity” and that it “bestowed an effortless finish that is totally bewitching.” He gave it a drinking window to 2028 and beyond.
