Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes 2007 is a full-bodied red wine from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation of the southern Rhône Valley. By European standards Domaine Janasse is a relative newcomer having only been established in 1973 but in a short space of time has come to be recognised as one of the highest quality producers of modern style Châteauneuf-du-Pape. "With an inky purple colour, the wine has unctuous texture, a gorgeous nose of créme de cassis, blackberry, licoricey and a touch of Provençal herbs and beef blood. It is beginning to show evolution, but the incredible texture - like a compressed skyscraper in the mouth – and its amazing ethereal qualities and lightness on its feet (despite its enormous size and richness) is something to behold.
