This wine is made from Koshu, which is an indigenous Japanese grape variety that can be traced back to 1186 when it was discovered growing wild at Katsunama in Yamanashi prefecture. The grapes for this wine are grown in the gravel and clay soils of the Iwasake District and are fermented in oak barrels followed by 4 months maturation in oak. The perfect pairing for fish tempura or light chicken dishes, it offers up lovely notes of yuzu citrus, white flowers, vanilla and almonds.
