In 1978, ex-businessman Sergio Rossi established La Gerla. The estate was originally called Colombaio and had belonged to the Biondi-Santi family. Though Rossi sadly passed in 2011, the 11.5-hectare estate continues to produce wonderful wines under the direction of his wife, Donatella Monforte.
The 2016 vintage is described by the renowned wine critic, James Suckling, as follows, "Very pretty ripe and dried fruit with blackberries and sweet cherries. It’s full-bodied with depth of fruit and creamy, polished tannins. Extremely compact and long. Pure fruit at the end. A gorgeous wine." Sold in glorious large format.
