In 2011, the team behind Shaw + Smith purchased the Tolpuddle Vineyard in Tasmania. The 2018 Pinot Noir is marked in its general savouriness but throughout are beautiful notes of strawberry, black cherry and twiggy spice, with gentle infusions of clove and woodsmoke. Acid runs refreshingly through, keeping it lively, and an impressive strike of grainy tannin gives structure.
