Thorne and Daughters Tin Soldier 2021

‘Tin Soldier’ is an intriguing release made from Sémillon Gris, a rare and lesser-known variant of the Sémillon grape, which has a pinkish-gray colour. The grapes are sourced from a single old vineyard in the Western Cape`s Franschhoek region. The wine is considered an ‘orange’ or ‘skin-contact’ wine, meaning that the grape skins are left in contact with the juice during fermentation, giving the wine its characteristic amber hue and additional complexity. The juice is fermented with wild yeasts in old oak barrels, and the wine is aged on its lees for an extended period, which contributes to its depth and texture.
