The Frankland River region of Western Australia is perhaps best known for its incredible quality Riesling and there are very few producers willing to commit to planting an exceptionally labour-intensive and low-yielding variety such as Grenache. However, that is exactly what Swinney have done and the results are superb.
Hand-harvested, berry sorted and gravity fed to French oak vats for indigenous yeast fermentation, every measure has been taken to ensure only the finest fruit is used and all of its innate freshness, texture and complexity is retained. The 2018 is a vibrant and expressive yet slightly tensile release, blessed with delicious notes of wild raspberry, dark cherries, star anise and mace.
