Storm Vrede Chardonnay 2022

Storm Vineyards have made a notable entry into South Africa`s fine wine arena, marking their debut vintage in 2014. Hannes Storm, formerly the head winemaker at Hamilton Russell, employs a gentle and less interventionist approach to create exquisite Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. This Chardonnay hails from a north-east facing vineyard on the slopes of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. The soils here consist mainly of stony Bokkeveld shale enriched with clay, contributing to the wine`s texture and complexity. It reveals a smooth character with notes of freshly sliced stone fruits, citrus oils, and lemongrass, leading to a vibrant and crisp finish. The wine underwent maturation in French oak barrels, with 30% of them being new.
