Steve Smith MW and Brian Sheth combined to create a contemporary negociant-style business in New Zealand with the aim of seeking out exceptional quality grapes from the finest vineyards in order to produce wines with a true sense of place. In Maori this is known as ‘Turangawaewae’ – a word to describe the special connection of a people and the land in which they live and work.
Grapes for the Heretaunga (Hawke’s Bay) Syrah are sourced from private growers as well as estate-owned vineyards in the gravelly soil subzones of Bridge Pa, Omahu and Mangatahi. This is a fragrant, spicy and savoury expression of Syrah, with abundant freshness and elegance, ideal for pairing with roasted meats or mature cheeses.
