Located within the Margaux appellation, Château Palmer was formerly a part of the d`Issan estate and derives its name from Major General Charles Palmer of the British Army, who acquired the property in 1814. Uncommon for the Médoc, Château Palmer typically incorporates an equal measure of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in its blend, complemented by a small proportion of Petit Verdot. The 2001 vintage has reached its zenith, revealing dusty red and black cherry notes that persist gently. However, what truly stands out are the secondary elements of spice, tea leaves, and hints of saddle leather, which add depth to the wine. The oak has seamlessly integrated, imparting a smooth quality, and the finish is graced by sweet, well-rounded tannins.
