Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red Magnum 1994
Jayson Pahlmeyer planted his vineyard in 1981 using “suitcase clones” allegedly smuggled from France. His founding philosophy was to create a “California Mouton” and has undoubtedly secured his winery’s reputation as one of the finest producers of Bordeaux varieties in Napa. The 1994 Proprietary Red is a brilliant release composed of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with lesser parts Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec. It is exuberant and bold with sumptuous black fruits complemented by savoury notes of tar, liquorice, cigar smoke and earth.
