The 1979 vintage marked the first release of Opus One, a joint venture between pioneering Californian winemaker Robert Mondavi and the late Baron Philippe de Rothschild. The 1985 is delicate and perfumed with notes of cassis, baked black fruits, wild herbs, sandalwood and spice. It is a wonderful mature wine with excellent depth, complexity and silky texture.
