Positioned in the northern part of the commune, Léoville Las Cases faces the vineyards of Latour just across the boundary in Pauillac. The 1983 vintage, marked by its good ripeness and well-balanced characteristics, somewhat stood in the shadow of the opulent 1982s that came before it. Nonetheless, Léoville Las Cases stands out as one of the premier wines of the vintage, offering notes of ripe black fruit, cassis, graphite, pencil lead, and aged leather.
