First appearing in the 1988 vintage, Le Petit Cheval is the second wine of illustrious Saint-Émilion estate, Château Cheval Blanc. On average, 4,000 cases of Le Petit Cheval are made each vintage and it is produced mostly from declassified wine from the Grand Vin that is blended with other selected parcels. The 2016 vintage was exceptionally strong for Bordeaux and this release, a blend of 62% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, is particularly good. It has wonderful perfume, excellent purity of fruit, sumptuous texture and an exceptionally long finish.
