Jean-Francois Ganevat is one of the most celebrated producers of the Jura region in eastern France and is a leading light in biodynamic viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking. Having trained in Beaune and worked at Domaine Jean-Marc Morey for almost a decade, he returned to his family estate in 1998 and took the helm, the 14th generation of his family to do so since 1650.
This wine is a curiosity from the négoce side of his business and is a multi-regional blend of Chardonnay from the Jura and Burgundy (Mâconnais) with the addition of Riesling from Alsace. All the grapes are vinified together with élevage in 7 to 10-year-old barriques for 12 months. It is fresh, zippy and zesty, with hints of tropical fruit richness, spice and a seam of wonderful minerality.
