Château Grillet is an appellation in the Rhône Valley which is planted solely to one permitted variety, Viognier, and is occupied by a single producer who shares the same name. It has been cultivated since Roman times, was granted appellation status in 1936 and even declared a National Heritage site in 1976. The appellation, vineyard and winery were owned by the Neyret-Gachet family since 1827 but was sold to Francois Pinault of Château Latour in 2011.

2016 was an excellent vintage in the region and this is a sublime release with abundant rich fruits but classic zesty freshness. Decadent, silky and incredibly long on the palate, it exhibits a wonderful core of honeyed stone fruits with delightful mineral accents. A classic release that is drinking brilliantly in youth but will evolve over the next decade.
