Castillo Perelada is one of the most important producers in the Empordà DO, a small Catalonian region close to the Southern French border. The 2009 Finca Garbet is a blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon from a single 12-hectare vineyard just a stone’s throw away from the shores of the Mediterranean. Dark in colour, it offers up remarkably deep and intense aromas of black fruits, wild herbs, star anise, cedar and bitter chocolate. Full-bodied and rich, it is perfectly interwoven with ripe but lightly grippy tannins and a fine thread of slatey minerality.
