d`Angles Grand Vin Rouge Magnum 2009

Having been technical director at Château Lafite-Rothschild for 8 years, Eric Faber went in search of great terroir in the South of France which led him to Château d’Anglès in the Languedoc sub-region of La Clape. The Grand Vin Rough is made from 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre from old vines on the mountain of La Clape. It is rich and ripe, but due to its proximity to the ocean, also cool and elegant. Deep red in colour, it offers up abundant scents of black fruits, spice box, liquorice and tobacco, alongside a distinctive menthol note. Full-bodied and densely structured, this is far better when paired with food, particularly flame-grilled meats.
