With a history that spans several centuries, Château Climens is one of the most distinguished producers of sweet wine in Bordeaux. Only one of two estates classified as Premier Cru Classé in 1855, it has continued into the modern era its tradition of producing exceptional quality wines, renowned for their depth, elegance and longevity.
The 2001 vintage was incredible for the Bordeaux late-harvested sweet wines and Climens can certainly be considered amongst the best of them. Made from 100% Semillon, it is remarkably concentrated and complex on the nose, offering up delicious notes of tropical fruits, apricot, citrus peel and honey interwoven with lanolin, almond paste and citrus blossom. On the palate it is impeccably balanced, with a finish of extraordinary length and complexity.
