A French–Chilean collaboration between the Marnier-Lapostolle [owners of the Grand Marnier liqueur] and Rabat families, Casa Lapostolle was founded in 1994. Clos Apalta, their flagship wine, is a blend in which the largest share is Carmenère, the region’s signature grape. The 2013 vintage reveals a complex nose, featuring blackberries, blueberries, cassis, dry figs, clove, black pepper and a touch of lavender. On the palate, the wine is intense, with a ripe and unique personality. Expect more blackberries and blueberries, with a long, slightly smoked finish.
