In 1978, ex-businessman Sergio Rossi established La Gerla. The estate was originally called Colombaio and had belonged to the Biondi-Santi family. Though Rossi sadly passed in 2011, the 11.5-hectare estate continues to produce wonderful wines under the direction of his wife, Donatelle Monforte. This is a classically-styled and robust iteration of the flagship Brunello and, though intensely structured, the quality of the 2015 vintage is abundantly clear, with its tremendous purity and depth of fruit.
