Released as part of Bruichladdich`s much celebrated "Rare Cask" series. Distilled in 1988 and never re-racked, maturing in the same cask it was laid down in 30 years ago – refill bourbon and refill squat hogsheads.
A big, floral nose on this whisky with dried hay, coconut oil and vanilla fudge joining the party. The palate is rich and smooth with citrus, pipe tobacco and ripe tropical fruit before an elegant, lifted finish with hints of sea spray and toasty vanilla oak - a masterclass in the balance that can be achieved when the right casks are used.
