Château Bélair-Monange was created in 2008 by the illustrious Moueix family from the amalgamation of the historic Saint-Émilion vineyards of Châteaux Bélair and Magdelaine. The 2017 release is an utterly spell-binding wine composed of 98% Merlot with just a 2% seasoning of Cabernet Franc. It leaps from the glass with exuberant notes of plum, black cherry, raspberry, dried herbs, exotic spices and tobacco. Medium- to full-bodied and silky textured, this is an incredibly seductive wine with remarkable levity and excellent length. Dangerously drinkable already but the best will be revealed after a period of cellaring.
