From a less-than-stellar vintage, this is an admirable effort from Premier Grand Cru Classé St-Émilion property, Château Beau-Séjour Bécot. It is a medium-bodied and ripe blend of 80% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. Though perhaps not possessive of the extra complexity or structure of other vintages, this is a nicely balanced, smooth and persistent wine built for short- to medium-term drinking.
