Bodegas Zárate is based in the Val do Salnés subzone of Rias Baixas in northwestern Spain. Established in 1920, founder Ernesto Zárate was pivotal in promoting and celebrating the local variety with which the region is now synonymous, namely Albariño. Current winemaker, Eulogio Pomares, is one of the most talented in the region and has continued to produce wines that are amongst the finest in Galicia.
Tras da Viña is produced from a 0.6ha parcel planted in 1965. All grapes are hand harvested, wild-yeast fermented and matured on lees for 24 months. This is a lovely ripe and round expression of Albariño, offering up wonderful notes of stone fruits, citrus, wild herbs and a core of steely minerality.
