PS, or Pagos Seleccionados, from Aalto is a strictly limited cuvée of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) produced from 80- to 100-year-old vines in the prime Ribera del Duero districts of La Horra and La Aguilera. Ex-Vega Sicilia winemaker, Mariano Garcia is a genius with this variety and, the 2009 release is a wonderful effort now approaching its prime drinking phase. It is deep and intense yet rounded and silky, with delicious notes of cassis, black cherry, raspberry, tobacco, violets and clove.
