Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 2010 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard red wine produced in the Côte-Rôtie appellation of the northern Rhône Valley. Founded in 1946, Domaine Guigal is one of the most revered and unwaveringly consistent estates in the Rhône Valley and is often seen as a benchmark for quality Côte-Rôtie. The top three wines from Guigal are known affectionately in some circles as the La La`s, which is short for La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque. On the 2010 La Mouline. "As to three single parcel releases, I reviewed the 2010 Cote Rotie La Mouline earlier this year, but was more than happy to taste it again (lucky me) for this report. Incorporating a full 11% of Viognier and coming from the steep, terraced vines in the Cote Blonde lieu-dit, it sports a heavenly bouquet of spring flowers, incense, violets, cured meats and sweet cassis. Full-bodied, voluptuous and as seamless as they come, Syrah just doesn’t get any more alluring, sexy or impressive. Give it 5-6 years and drink bottles over the following 2 decades or more." 100 points, Wine Advocate, 2014

Chateauneuf du Pape Clos Saint Jean Deus Ex Machina 2007

HED4812

75 cl
13% ABV
£325.00
Deus Ex Machina Chateauneuf-du-Pape Clos Saint Jean 2007 is a full-bodied blended red wine from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation of the Southern Rhône Valley. Clos Saint Jean is run by brothers Vincent and Pascal Maurel and is considered amongst the very finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with the majority of their vineyards located in the iconic sub-zone of Le Crau. The supremely limited production Deus Ex Machina is a blend of 70-to-100-year-old-vine Grenache (60%) and Mourvèdre (40%) and is generally the most powerful of all their cuvées. "A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvedre, the perfect 2007 Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape Deus-Ex Machina is similar to the ’05 with its amazing purity, texture and length. On the nose, toasted spice, beef blood, grilled meat and garrigue literally jump from the glass and are framed by perfectly ripe, licorice infused fruit. The palate is deeper and more structured than the Combe des Fous and is a perfect blend of suave, elegant fruit and power, structure and intensity. The massive fruit and unbelievable texture almost make it hard to find the structure to the wine but the edge and tannic backbone on the finish are truly something." 100 points, Jeb Dunnuck

Colgin IX Estate Proprietary Blend 2006 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard red wine from the Napa Valley of California. Colgin Cellars was established by Ann Colgin in 1992. Anne crafted her early vintages from vineyards near the base of the Howell Mountains in Napa Valley. Later, she acquired land on Tychson Hill and enlisted the renowned viticulturist David Abreu to oversee vineyard planting. The IX Estate Proprietary Blend is the estate`s flagship red wine, made from a blend of Bordeaux varieties, typically including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The wine takes its name from the IX Estate Vineyard, which is situated in the Pritchard Hill area of Napa Valley. "From the Pritchard Hill Vineyard, the 2006 IX Proprietary Red Estate is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. The good news is that there are 1,500 cases of this cuvee. It, too, reveals the noble sweetness of tannin, the extraordinary rich, intense mouthfeel, and sumptuous aromas of flowers, burning embers, blackberries, blueberries, spice box, and cedar. With extraordinary intensity, beautiful purity, a texture and flavours that build incrementally on the palate, and a significantly long finish, this is a perfect wine." 100 points, Robert Parker, 2008
