Quiñón de Valmira is a red wine primarily made from Garnacha, complemented by a small proportion of other local red varieties. It is crafted by the Palacios Remondo winery located in Alfaro, La Rioja, within the D.O.C. Rioja. The grapes come exclusively from a single vineyard characterized by limestone soils and a cool climate in the Ebro Valley. This unique terroir imparts a distinctive character to the wine, resulting in an expressive and approachable style.

Quiñón de Valmira stands out in the Rioja region as it showcases the elegance and individuality of Garnacha, which sets it apart from the more prevalent Tempranillo variety. It serves as a testament to the winemaking talent of Álvaro Palacios, who skillfully identifies exceptional vineyards and grape varieties to create exquisite blends.

Grange des Pères Rouge 2008 is a full-bodied, blended red wine from the Languedoc region of France. Domaine de la Grange des Pères was established in 1989 by the late founder Laurent Vaillé (who trained with such wine luminaries as Jean Francois Coche-Dury (Meursault), Gérald Chave (Hermitage) and Eloi Durrbach (Domaine de Trévallon, Provence) before settling in the Hérault region of the Languedoc) who repurposed land acquired by his grandfather in the 1950s. The winery emphasises meticulous vineyard management and careful winemaking techniques to capture the individual aspects of their vineyards. The estate red is typically a blend of 40% Syrah, 40% Mouvèdre, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Counoise. On the 2008. "Blackberry, cassis, and rhubarb; blond tobacco sandalwood, and nutmeg mingle alluringly in the nose and on the ripely-fruited yet firmly tannic and subtly yet insistently tart-edged palate of 2008 Grange des Peres red. Animal blood and maritime mineral elements emerge as well in a long, expansive, multi-faceted finish. There is considerable amplitude as well as tannic structure and palpable density here, and I expect that 2-3 years of enforced deprivation are in order before starting to chart the wine’s evolution in bottle over the subsequent 6-8." Produced from 100% hand harvested Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown on the J.J. Cohn Estate. Winemaker Celia Welch describes the 2014 vintage as follows, `The consistency of this vintage during the growing season has, not surprisingly, manifested itself in the overall impression of the finished wine. Lovely cassis, black plum, violets, dried blackberries on the vine, baking spices, chestnut, and just a hint of fresh earth interconnect in the very forward aromas of this unmistakably Rutherford Cabernet. On the palate, the entry is balanced and elegant, polished but with a clear density, a flavor core that adds gravitas and suggests ageability. The finish is of wild plums, black cherry jam, and a hint of warm vanilla.`

Clarendon Hills Astralis 2010 is a full-bodied single-vineyard Shiraz from the Clarendon Hills of South Australia. A frequent receiver of high scores from effusive critics, the Clarendon Hills Astralis was first produced by Roman Bratasiuk in 1994 and since then has become a global fine wine icon. "Deep garnet-purple in colour, the 2010 Astralis is still quite primary eliciting aromas of black plums, blueberry compote and blackcurrant liqueur with a savoury and baking spice undercurrent plus a fragrant whiff of violets. Very structured, fine and complex in the medium to full-bodied mouth, this wine is revealing much more than when I first tasted it a year ago and is now showing layer upon layer of black fruit preserves, mocha, toast and spices before finishing with great length. Extraordinary wine." Wine Advocate, 2014

Clos Saint Jean is run by brothers Vincent and Pascal Maurel and is considered amongst the very finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. La Combe de Fous translates as ‘the hill of the fool’ and is a reference to their great-great-grandfather, Edmund Tacussel, who in 1905 planted Grenache vines in one of the hilliest and most inhospitably stoney sections of the iconic Le Crau sub-region. It is this ancient-vine fruit that forms the backbone to this cuvée, a remarkably rich yet velvety wine that rides the perfect line between immense power and beguiling elegance. 2007 was an incredible vintage in the southern Rhône and this has twice been awarded a perfect 100-point score by The Wine Advocate.
